Health Promotion

VICEC will work with health promotion groups, hospitals and health authorities to promote better health and healthy living. This includes a Ramadan stop smoking campaign, and health advice sessions to inform and educate people about common health problems, such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes

Woman's Link

VICEC Women’s Link aims to provide services that support and foster the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical well being of Muslim women and their families. It will include, weekly listening surgeries, training, workshops and classes, advice, support and information, personal skills development, monthly coffee mornings, volunteering programme, seminars and conferences, social activities and networking events

Charity Collections

The centre will regularly facilitate charity collections for a wide variety of good causes, especially in the month of Ramadan

Food Bank

The centre currently runs a all year food bank service and provides a certain amount each month. Currently working with the Abbey Centre with the aim to expand this project and work with other local organisations

Education and Training
Food for Thought

A project for young people offering structured study support in National Curriculum subjects, with peer motivators providing mentoring support. As part of the challenge to raise self-esteem and strengthen identity, Outward Bound courses are offered

Religious & Spiritual Prayer

VICEC is open for four daily prayers at the moment with hopes of maybe having the five daily prayers with the consent of the council and in partnership with our neighbours. The prayer area can accommodate over 100 people, including space dedicated just for women.

Religious Advice and Counselling

Muslims turn to the centre for help and advice in all matters of their day to- day life. VICEC has trained Imams to advise and counsel on the many concerns of the community such as bereavement, cultural challenges, generational issues and matrimonial problems. Regular programmes include explanation of the Qur’an in English. Also, there are weekly programmes open to all the family with a diverse range of speakers and topics.

Economic Regeneration
Way to Work, ESOL & ICT

An innovative new project which will provide advice and guidance to aid people into employment. We will offer help and advice with CV writing, applications, interview techniques etc. ESOL and ICT courses will be run from the centre, particularly with a view to improving employability skills.

Community Cohesion
Islam Awareness Project / Courses

The Islam Awareness Project arranges open days and exhibitions for people to find out more about the religion of Islam and the Muslim world. Increasingly, businesses and organisations want their staff to have an authentic overview of Islam and Muslim communities. Courses are offered for individuals and institutions, and can be tailored to meet specific requirements.

Information Stalls

With so many people passing through its doors, especially on Fridays, the centre has proved an ideal location to disseminate information to the local community, and has been used by various local bodies.
